DISCOVER & RESEARCH
THE BUSINESS
Wazeopedia is a knowledge hub created by Waze and maintained by the Editors’ community. The site has a monthly average of 60K users.
In Wazeopedia you can find editing guidelines specific for each community and general information about the Waze map and products.
THE PROBLEM
The most reliable and safe source of information that was put forward by waze to serve its loyal community - is not functioning.
The community turned to different alternatives (forums, Facebook) because their source of knowledge is outdated,, inaccessible, Outdated.
THE GOALS
creating a reliable, up-to-date, and breathing source of knowledge - in the place where answers are supposed to be found

by day Motty is a tour guide and by night he loves to edit maps at the waze map editor.
he joined the waze map editor's community to help with the special area’s labeling and definition.
he knows how to use the wazeopedia because the system is the same as wikipedia.
Aviv is a regional council member that took the responsibility on updating the regional maq due to the changes that had been made on the way.
she is the most up-to-date in the technological world and knows how to use the map editor app.
she enjoys the map editor she finds her information she needs and she relies on it because for her its them most efficient and reliable information she can find. she says that the time it takes her to find what she’s looking for takes her a lot of time.

joined the waze map editor community when Waze started her way in Israel
all the knowledge he have on the map editor system he learned by himself and talking with his friends
he prefers not to use the wazeopedia because its not comfortable and friends gives him the answers quicker

Since the people coming to WAZEOPEDIA are familiar with WAZE, the first thing we did was go check out what Waze looks like.
People already know the language - so why not use it to our advantage?
Then we went and checked big sites and how they present their information search to understand what the world looks like

THE HOME PAGE

What was very important to us is that you know that you have come to WAZEOPEDIA, a page created by the community, for the community.
Since the user is here to search - then the first thing he will see is the search bar. Because on the way they will come with a specific question- Below it, if you wish, there is also a search by division - someone new who wants instructional videos of 5 minutes each, questions about editing a map and questions about the community itself.
We built Hader which serves as a shortcut to the other main platforms of the community (the map editor and Facebook).
THE SEARCH ENGINE


We found that people don't like to search, so we made it easier for them with a dropdown that says what the last topics you searched for, recommended, etc.Intuitive search, which adapts itself to the most common search mechanisms today. People write and expect that what comes out of their head is what you will find for them even if sometimes it is not accurate. The search knows how to adjust the definition according to keywords and starts to offer you direction based on your data base, what you have searched for in the past and the places where you are likely to find what you came to look for

On the entry page, it was important for us to maintain readability and a clear division into topics.
Also, we wanted to create continuity and that one value would lead to the next value like a learning process - You start from the basics and progress to something more complex.
APP UX UI DESIGN
THE APP BEFORE


Accessing the map editor is through a Google search through which you enter a certain page on the company's website and only after an infinite amount of clicks do you reach our destination.
It could and should have been an area accessed through the waze home app
THE APP AFTER


So we took the map editor, which is actually a customized page, we left the editing tools and removed unnecessary things like registration because we already did that when entering the application.
We added a tab / drawer on the left with the wazeopedia logo and a magnifying glass (because this is what we do) And we refined the search.


If we have already come to the conclusion that people do not like to search, the implication is that on mobile it is all the more true
So we stayed with what we had on the desktop - before clicking anything - there are the favorites
And after you start typing there is auto-completion
We kept the tabs - but adapted a bit for mobile
